New Year, New Web Log,

Since Lisa couldn't think of anything to post, I decided I may as well do the honours. We just finished up a nice 4-day weekend, during which we saw two films at the theatre, got a shredded tire, had a Piratathon of the Caribbean, slept in, and scared the cat. I recall someone doing laundry as well.

Saturday we saw National Treasure 2, which was a highly enjoyable film. It reminded me of a very light-hearted Indiana Jones, which pleased me since I got the same vibe from the first one. A fairly strong plot line, although I found it simple to forget why they were looking for the treasure in the first place. Ancient traps were enjoyable, although overly complex. I still don't know why a trap door leading to a precariously balanced square with a ladder in the corner over a deep pit made more sense to the builders than a trap door leading to a big pit. Lisa tried to rationalize it, saying that it was in case one of the builders fell in it. We may never know. I would also like to talk to the city council about building a city that floods itself. Imagine the hastle, every time you went out to hunt you would flood the city, soaking all of your imported Cherokee rugs and your fancy Navajo pottery, not to mention shorting out any transistor radios.

Monday we saw Enchanted, since I Am Legend was sold out. For what it is, a movie made for 8-year-old girls, it wasn't that bad. I chuckled more times than I thought I would, and even let slip a guffaw. They could have done more comparing the differences between the Disney Fairy-Tale world and reality, but it didn't really try to be an Oscar-winning, critically acclaimed blockbuster. I don't really have any regrets seeing it, but I doubt I'll ever willingly watch it again. Even the dragon was fairly disappointing, it had nothing on Maleficent, who is easily in Nate's Top 3 Disney Villains list.
