The Last Week...

The thief:
One day last week , we woke up to find Nate's glasses missing. We think the cat is holding them ransom somewhere. As a result, Nate has to wear his prescription sunglasses til his contacts come in. Therefore all the photos of Nate in this post he's wearing his sunglasses. He doesn't look guilty, does he?

Guy: If you know me at all, you know that one of my favorite things is the Food Network. Really the only tv we watch is the Food Network. I've succeeded in getting Nate to like it! A couple of weeks ago one of Nate's coworkers mentioned a restaurant (Pat's BBQ) she had been to for lunch and that some show from the Food Network was going to be filming there. Nate's ears immediately perked up and asked which show. She said she couldn't remember "Something with D's", Nate said " DINERS, DRIVE INS, and DIVES"????? She said yes and he immediately called me. This is one of our favorite shows. Every time we go on vacation we arrange to go to one of these restaurants and take our picture in front of it. We're nerds. We found out that The Food Network would be their on Monday and Friday shooting for the show. We went on Monday, but they were only shooting kitchen shots, but the food was amazing none the less. The best bbq I've had in Utah hands down. It has a really cool atmosphere. There is live music going on and it's really laid back. Nate made friends with a long bearded fiddler. We went back on Friday hoping to meet Guy Fieri, the host. We walked up and they were shooting right there in front of the restaurant! Apparently the South Salt Lake Fire Department eats there a lot so they were doing a whole segment with them. It was really cool to watch! And he was standing right there!

He was really cool and chill. Nate and I got our photo taken with him. I was a little star struck!
And here is the official triple D car that Guy drives in every episode.

We stayed for lunch and had the "burnt ends", they are so good. They only serve them on Friday at lunch and they sell out really quick. They are worth it. They were shooting while we were eating. There is probably a good chance that you'll see our backs. We were sitting at the counter. They told us to not look at the camera, just act natural and go on eating our meal. They said it will be airing late Summer, early Fall.Fun day!

Mother's Day:
My cute Mom

My cute Mumsie

We had a really good Mother's Day this year. We spent the late afternoon and evening at my Mom's house and had a yummy barbecue. I love having all the family together and just hanging around. The kids had a blast on the swings and the rest of us sat around and caught up on life.
We also got to talk to Nate's Mom, we wish they were closer!

Kathi and Rod

Kelly and Austyn

Babysitting:
I babysit Austyn and Zeben on Monday afternoons. This past Monday we met Nate at the train station and then went to the park. We all had such a good time and took some fun photos. They are so fun! Austyn had to wear her Snow White dress. I told her that was fine, but then Zeben wanted to wear his Tigger costume. It took me a little while to talk him out of that!

Bikram Yoga:
On Wednesday, Heidi, her sister, Chelsea and I went to a Bikram Yoga class. It's a series of 26 yoga poses you do twice for a total of a 90 minute class. The room is set to 105 degrees. The heat helps with your flexibility and helps you go deeper into the stretches. I don't think I've ever sweat that much in my life. It was pouring out of every single pore of my body. It was one of the most exhilarating things I've done. I would recommend it to everyone. It feels so euphoric and empowering. The meditation is another plus.

Ode to Kate:
I found out a few weeks ago that one of my very best friends, [my bff ], is to be moving to DC for an amazing top notch job. We are so very proud of her! Not only are going to miss her terribly, but she is going to the very place Nate longs to be: the east. She'll be minutes away from two of Nate's sisters. Just one more reason to move back east. Katie is wonderful and starting a new adventure that will lead to many more. I know we'll end up in the same neighborhood raising our kids together. On Tuesday we had her over for sticky fingers, Top Gear and IT Crowd. On Thursday we surprised her at the pizzeria. It reminded me of old times. We played some good tunes on the juke box [Journey in honor of Tawny], ate some yummy food and talked for hours. I'll miss this.

And this one's for Tawny!
On Saturday night we stopped over and said our goodbyes.

Dave:

Yesterday we got to see this guy!!! For those of you who don't know, this is Dave Ramsey. Nate and I went to "The Total Money Makeover Live Event". I started listening to his radio show a little over a year ago. It really caught my attention. He helps people with their financial problems using humor, common sense and Christian values. I've read this book a few times and really love it. Everything in it makes perfect sense to me. I've bought this book 4 times now because I keep giving it away. It's worth every penny. Everyone should read this book.

When I heard on his radio program that he was coming to Salt Lake City I knew we had to go. It was incredibly motivating. We are currently on baby step #1. We have gotten rid of our credit cards and pay up front for everything. It feels pretty good to be in control of our financial standing and not a slave to a lender.

Disneyland is only a week away!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

you need to update your blog more often so that your posts aren't a million miles long :) if you move back east you better warn me far in advance because i think i would go through a state of depression if you move that far away!

We love Diners Drive-ins and Dives, one of our favorites! You're so lucky to have met Guy.
If you and Nate ever feel inclined to come visit us in the Northwest, there's a great diner in Portland that we found on that show!
