Utah Arts Festival

A few weekends ago, Nate and I went to the Utah Arts Festival at Library Square in SLC. It was awesome. It's always nice to get some culture and where it's not as abundant here as some of the places Nate has lived, it was a nice welcome. I forget that we have some amazing artists and cultural activites right here in Utah. There was some crazy inspiration going on! So many new projects I want to try. I'm really getting into the mixed media art. We had a good time and it made me excited for the day when we can afford to have our own art collection. Look at this handsome guy in the front of the Library. I love the architecture.

Yay for NPR! I'm so glad they didn't take it off the air here. Phew, it was close! Although they did move my beloved Bryant Park Project from 6-7am to 5-6 am!! Blah, now I'll have to podcast.

Here are some of my favorite artists this year. Alison Armstrong's booth was amazing! She had these awesome pieces of classic 50's woman mixed with paint and all sorts of mediums on thick canvas. I was really impressed with her stuff. One of my favorites on her website is "Whip up a batch of happy".

Bruce Reinfeld's photography was amazing! He used really vibrant colors and excellent angles. I really liked that he kept the classic negative border on all his prints as well. Check out his gallery on his website, there is some gorgeous stuff there.

Break for dinner, gyros! One of our favorites.

This guy was crazy. All of his art was framed origami. He is a genius. He was folding these cool little dragons while we were in his booth. Nate enjoyed that. I thought this green mask was AWESOME, the photo doesn't do it justice.

Fred Conlon's metal sculptures were one of the favorites of the day. His area was packed. Most of his sculptures had this little guy involved. My personal favorites are where they are dissembling the lawn flamingo and stealing the lawn gnome. Very creative and fun.

This lady blew me away. Cat Palmer is a genius. Not only was her photography amazing, but her presentation with the metal and paint was insane. I wanted to buy them all! She is setting up an etsy soon and I can't wait. I love everything about this bathtub photo, simply beautiful.

This was one of my favorite pieces from the whole day. I want this for my kitchen! Donald Seymour and his wife are awesome. They were the cutest couple. The wife grows the flowers and the husband takes the photos. Talk about team work. They were the most beautiful photographs I've ever seen. We couldn't take photos in the booth so check out their site, it's truly spectacular, they look like paintings.
And our beloved gelato-lemon + mango = pure bliss.

We took trax and frontrunner home. Amazing date night. I'm so glad I'm married to a guy who appreciates this stuff.

Happy creating!

-Lisa
